Arunabha Ghosh is CEO of the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), an independent policy-research institution. Under Arunabha's influential leadership - and in the space of three years - the CEEW has become India's top-ranked climate and energy-related think-tank (and ranked 15th globally).
With experience in more than 30 countries, Arunabha has assiduously devoted his career to public policy. His work falls at the intersection of international relations, global governance and human development, including climate, energy, water, trade and conflict. He advises governments, industry and civil society around the world on: energy and resources security; renewable energy policy; water governance and institutions; climate governance (financing, R&D, geo-engineering); energy-trade-climate linkages; and international regime design.
In March 2013, the World Economic Forum selected Arunabha as a Young Global Leader. His latest initiative involves creating a countrywide network of off-grid renewable energy companies in an effort to lower their operational costs, and thereby increase the scale of rural-energy services.
Arunabha holds a doctorate and M.Phil. in international relations from Oxford (Clarendon Scholar and Marvin Bower Scholar) and an M.A. (First Class) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (Balliol College, Oxford; Radhakrishnan Scholar). He topped Economics from St. Stephen?s College (Delhi University). Arunabha lives in Gurgaon, India, and speaks English, Hindi, Bengali and basic Spanish
