Those, who are good at mountaineering and would like to give themselves a challenge, should definitely go for this 3 Passes Trek with Everest Base Camp. With sceneries, changing from lush montane forests to snow-covered lands, this hike gives you varied visual experiences. The main aim of this 20-day trip through the Himalayas is to lead you to three high-altitude mountain passes and the Everest Base Camp. The three passes you scale during the trek are Renjo La, Cho La and Kongma La. Apart from this, the Everest 3 High Passes trek also takes you to atop three summits: Kala Patthar, Gokyo Ri and Chukhung Ri.

 

Your experience will be made better by the opportunity to walk on the Khumbu and Ngozumpa Glaciers. The Three Passes Trek in Nepal also includes a visit to the Gokyo glacial lakes. Other highlights of the trip are lots of sharp ascents and descents, and river crossings via suspension bridges. On the trip, you will stay in villages, covered by lush jungles, or those, located on the banks of glaciers. A day to acclimatise in Namche Bazaar will ensure that you complete your Everest Base Camp Trek easily.

 

ITINERARY:

 

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, capital city of Nepal, meet with our team who will escort you to the pre-booked hotel and later take you to the popular restaurants to enjoy an evening of cultural exploration. 

 

Day 2 : Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,652m)

Take a flight to Lukla; once here, begin your 3 Passes Trek with Everest Base Camp journey with a descent on a paved trail, leading towards Bhaisi Kharka. The walk will involve few minor ascents before you reach Phakding, your first stop. This will help your acclimatization. 
Overnight stay at a lodge in Phakding.

 

Day 3 : Trek to Namche Bazaar (7.4 km | 3-4 hrs | 3,440m)

After freshening up, resume the hike by walking to a suspension bridge over the Dudh Kosi River. The path ascends a little from here till you reach Monjo, the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park. From here, the trail first descends to the confluence of the Dudh Kosi River with Bhote Kosi. At this point, walk on the Hillary suspension bridge, beyond which the trail ascends sharply till you reach Namche Bazaar.

 

Day 4 : Trek to Khumjung for acclimatization (15 km | 8-9 hrs | 3,790m)

Wake up to the beautiful sunrise and get ready to trek to Khumjung. Post a scrumptious meal of breakfast, head to the beautiful village of Sherpas. Heading to Khumjung the largest settlement of Khumbu Valley is one of the oldest and largest Sherpa settlements in the Khumbu region (Everest region). Staying in Khumbu region will also prepare you for acclimatization, meaning you might not face any high-mountain sickness further. In the evening you will head back to Namche Bazaar where you will stay for overnight in your pre-booked hotel/lodge.

 

Day 5 : Trek to Tengboche Monastery (11 km | 6-7 hrs | 3,870 m)

Post breakfast in Namche Bazaar, proceed the trek to Kyamjuma. It will first descends slightly to Dudhkoshi at 3250 m. While hiking, train your sight on the majestic views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Ama Dablam and Thamserku. This trail is beautifully laden with rhododendron trees where you might even pot some Himalayan wildlife. A strenuous ascent will take you to Tengboche monastery. Overnight stay in a lodge in Tengboche.

 

Day 6 : Trek to Dingboche (9.1 km | 5-6 hrs | 4,358m)

Start from Tengboche and hike down for around 30 minutes along the riverside through meandering jungle trails and eventually hike up to the valley’s highest year round settlement of Pangboche. The trail is through Mani stone walls and small settlements. Enjoy the close-up of Mt. Ama Dablam. Continue hiking up to Pheriche, a walk from here will lead you to Imja valley. Climb a steep trail to reach Dingboche. Overnight stay in a lodge.

 

Day 7 : Trek to Chhukung (7.7 km | 3-4 hrs | 4,730m)

In the morning, you will begin the trek to Chhukung, the trail is a continuous ascent till you reach. On the way, you will see beautiful mountain views in and around the valley. In the evening, return back to stay overnight in Dingboche.

 

Day 8 : Cross Kongma La to Lobuche (6.4 km | 3-4 hrs | 5,535m)

Today, wake up to click pictures of the beautiful sunrise. After breakfast, start your day from a climb to Lobuche through Kongma La. You will get great mountain views of Lhotse (8,516 m), Lhotse Shar (8,383 m), Makalu (8,463 m), Baruntse (7,220 m), Ama Dablam (6,814 m)

 

Day 9 : Lobuche to Gorak Shep-Everest Base Camp- Gorak Shep (5,320 m)

Trek further on toward Gorakshep, a tiny hamlet. Have lunch here and later start trekking up to Everest Base Camp. Once you cross the pyramid sign, you can spot the crest of the north ridge of Everest as well as Mt. Pumori, Mt Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, etc. A small climb upwards will reveal to you panoramic views of the snowy peaks. A sharp view of Kala Pathar can be observed after an ascent through Changri Glacier. Walk through the rocky trails to finally reach Everest Base Camp. Return to Gorakshep later. Overnight stay here.

 

Day 10 : Trek to Kala Patthar and trek back to Lobuche (1.2 km | 1 hr| 5,550m)

Today morning, post breakfast, your first task for today is climbing the peak, called Kala Patthar or Black Rock. From the summit point, you will be able to see several of the highest summits in the world. Later, make a short descent to reach Lobuche.

 

Day 11 : Trek to Dzongla (7 km | 3-4 hrs | 4,830m)

Today you trek towards Dzongla, which takes about 6 hrs and you can have a dinner in Dzongla, overnight stay in Dzongla.

 

Day 12 : Trek to Dzonglha - Cross Cho La - Dragnag (2.4 km |1-2 hrs | 5,330m)

After a delicious meal of breakfast, you will begin your trek to Dragnag, passing through Cho La. The way is little difficult due to steepness, keep moving slowly and you will reach without hassle.

 

Day 13 : Trek to Gokyo Ri (4,790m)

Wake up to a spectacular view of the lake, and later visit Gokyo Lake V, passing Gokyo Lake IV en route. At an altitude of over 15,000 feet, Gokyo Lakes are the world’s highest system of freshwater lakes. The serenity and magnificence of these lakes will leave you awe-struck.

 

Day 14 : Hike up to Gokyo Ri (5,360m)

This day of the Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek will take you to the destination you have been waiting for, the summit of Gokyo Ri. While hiking towards Gokyo Ri, you will be able to capture spectacular views of Himalayan peaks. At 5,360m above sea level, this is the highest point of Gokyo region.

 

Day 15 : Cross Renjo Pass (5,340m) - Lungden (4,350m)

In the morning, after a tasty meal of breakfast, you will embark a trek to Lungden, passing through Renjo Pass. The route takes you along the river as you hike, passing old walled Sherpa villages.

 

Day 16 : Trek to Thame (3,820m)

Begin this stage of the trek by diverting from the traditional trail to Mount Everest and heading northwest in the direction of Tibet. Pass by a small Sherpa village, called Thamo and trek on the suspension bridge built over Bhote Koshi River, before arriving in Thame.

 

Day 17 : Trek to Namche Bazaar (9.7 km | 6-7 hrs | 3,440m)

Continue walking down the mountains towards Phunkethanga, further ahead, you will notice the appearance of vegetation in the form of rhododendron bushes. After sometime, tread on a bridge to cross the Dudh Kosi River and then climb to Sanasa, beyond which there is a descent to Namche Bazaar.

 

Day 18 : Trek to Lukla (2,840m)

Complete the ultimate stage of your Everest Base Camp Trek by continuing downhill to Lukla.

 

Day 19 : Fly to Kathmandu (1,300m)

After freshening up, move to the airport for the flight to Kathmandu, and on reaching the capital of Nepal, move to the hotel to rest.

 

Day 20 : Departure from Kathmandu

Post checking-out from the hotel, move on for your onward journey.
