ITINERARY
Day 1 : Arrival in Negombo
As soon as you arrive in Negombo, check in to your hotel set beside the beach. Freshen up, then head out to explore the city. If time permits, visit the Negombo fish market, where you will be amazed to see such variety of fish displayed for buying. Later in the evening, you can also visit beach bars, pubs and restaurants located close to your hotel. At night, get back to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2 : Negombo to Dambulla, Sigiriya and Habarana
In the morning, after breakfast, you will head-out for Dambulla to explore the famous Golden Rock Cave temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A well-known holy site for 22 centuries, the cave is beautifully laden with Buddhist mural paintings, 157 statues and a 47 foot long statue of the horizontal Buddha.
After discovering the largest preserved cave temple in Sri Lanka, you will proceed to climb the fortress of Sigiriya, which is a renowned 5th century castle and a now UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by the King Kassapa. The eccentric citadel, is fringed by beautiful lush gardens and intricate designed walls, rising above 200 meters from the forest. Also, do not miss to visit the ‘Heavenly Maidens’ of Sigiriya, nestled in a sheltered rock approached by a spiral stairway.
After the amazing climb, you will head for a village, peacefully set in picturesque landscape. Habarana village is adorned with fine accommodation facilities with views of green valley in the front. On reaching, check-in at your hotel, and relax with family or friends. Overnight stay at Habarana.
Day 3 : Habarana to Kandy
Wake up to a beautiful sunrise in Habarana and get ready to explore more of Sri Lanka. Post a scrumptious breakfast, you will head to Kandy, a UNESCO world Heritage Site and a stunning hill city. On the way, you will pass through spice gardens, where the spicy zest in the air will fill you with excitement. You will visit the well-known Temple of the Tooth, which houses a religious relic - the tooth of the Buddha.
You must also visit the jewels of the town, Kandy Lake and Peradeniya Botanical Garden. After visiting the temple, you will be presented with the cultural side of Sri Lanka. Take pleasure in the cultural show at the Kandyan Arts and Cultural Centre. The impressive lineup of rhythmic dancers along with the drummers make the show a great experience for travelers. Overnight stay at Kandy.
Day 4 : Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
Get set go! Today the journey via train to Nuwara Eliya will look like it is straight out of a painting, with lush green landscape. You will go past gushing waterfalls, green mountains and quaint villages. The entire countryside is built in the British-era, and you can see the influence in designs, which are full of colonial charm like Victorian buildings, golf courses and tea plantations.
On reaching, take a stroll in the village, interact with the locals, take pictures. Once known as ‘Little England’, Nuwara Eliya is full of Victorian architecture that will mesmerise you. Later in the evening, head back to your accommodation and enjoy the hypnotizing view of the hills from your hotel. Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya.
Day 5 : Nuwara Eliya to Mirissa
Today, the day is set for you to explore the beach side of Sri Lanka. After a hearty breakfast in the morning, you will drive towards Mirissa, the gorgeous hill town of Bandarawale. For a stroke of adventure, you can take a scenic train passing through the lush tea gardens and hills. Have lunch in Bandarwale.
On reaching, relax by the beach, have your favorite cocktail with a splendid sunset, indulge in sand with clear water for swimming. At night, return back to your hotel for an overnight stay in Mirissa.
Day 6 : Exploration in Mirissa (Rest day)
Wake up in the beach city and have a delectable breakfast by the beach. Today the entire day is free to explore at your own leisure. You can indulge in various activities like whale and dolphin watching, scuba-diving, etc. Explore the clear waters of Sri Lanka and its extensive marine life. To roam around the city, you can even hire a bicycle/scooter and take pleasure in the invigorating air.
Day 7 : Mirissa to Hikkaduwa via Galle
This morning, you will leave for Hikkaduwa and enroute you will visit Weligama fishing village, which is a fish hamlet and a surfing paradise. You will also visit the old town of Galle and Galle Fort, nestled near the sea where you will be amazed to see huge fortifications and historic buildings within the walls, built to protect the country from invaders that might come from the sea.
After visiting the old city, it is time to see the most famous beach of Sri Lanka, Unawatuna beach, well-known for golden sand & palm trees offering activities like snorkeling & scuba diving. Overnight stay at Hikkaduwa.
Day 8 : Hikkaduwa to Colombo
Today morning, you will leave for the capital city of Sri Lanka, Colombo. On reaching, you will visit the Independent Square before checking in the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the capital city. You can go for shopping, eat the local cuisine at some of the famous restaurants, or just sit by some beach. Overnight stay at Colombo.
Day 9 : Departure from Colombo
Today is the last day of your Cultural and Adventure Holiday in Sri Lanka. After breakfast, you will be transferred to airport. Fly back home with some beautiful memories you made in Sri Lanka.
