Bamsaru Lake Trek is elevated at 4,600 m and the thrill to climb up to this lake offers a good kick of adventure. The lake is nestled midst high-rise mountains in the lap of the Bandarpooch range, which creates a magnetic view, your eyes will be stuck on it. Walk down the snow slopes or slide, all the way down to the lake. Moving on, Gidara Bugyal trek, is blossoming with flowers in its full strength, as you walk past Dayara Bugyal. Make sure you visit Devkund, which is a lake naturally shaped like a diya, it is splendid for your photography collection. As you come close to the end of your Dayara Bugyal Trek, we pass through Barnala, which is a local settlement during monsoons.
Gidara and Dayara Bugyal Trek offers one a chance to enjoy the nature at its full form. Enjoy by the mountains, drink some tea made from pure milk, or relax by your campsite. Also, the variety of terrains you will come across is mind-blooming. The forests, meadows, flowers, rock, snow clad peaks, and what not. Explore Exciting Treks in Uttarakhand
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Bhangeli (7 – 8 Hours | 2100 m)
Leave behind the hustle of the town, and prepare for the road trip to tranquility of Gangotri. You will have breakfast enroute, so make sure you do not over eat, as further you will encounter hairpin bends kind of roads. Take your cameras out, as you will riding along the river of Bhagirathi. After a while, you will reach Uttarkashi, which is prominent with meditators, rishis and fresh air.
You can halt for 5 minutes to take in the view and then move upwards to see the natural hot springs. Take a quick bath to relax and then proceed to the village of Bhangeli. The road ends near the village, from where you will take a 30 min walk up to the village, where you will get a local food experience. Relax in the natural surroundings, and be prepared for the trek next morning.
Day 2: Bhangeli to Rikh Gairi (5 – 6 Hours | 2930 m | 7 km)
Post breakfast, you will begin the climb with a walk through the pavemnets, taking the blessing of the diety. At first, you will encounter the amazing Gangotri range, the view will be clearer so get your cameras ready. Moving on, you will proceed further through the forest of oak and deodar trees. While walking, have a keen eye as you might notice some edible wild mushrooms growing in the rocks. Interested can pluck one or two to try with lunch. You must also fill your bottles, as now the climb will get much steeper.
Get amazed with ‘Gujjar Hut’s which are built with wood and mud, and has an indoor fireplace. Have some tea with your packed lunch, interact with the locals, or simply gaze the nature to get in awe. Then procced for a small walk towards your campsite. On reaching, spectacle the marvelous view of the meadow, and relax at your tent.
Day 3: Rikh Gairi to Gidara Bugyal (6 – 7 Hours | 3800 m | 7 km)
In the morning, after breakfast, it’s time for you to discover the further journey. You embark with a walk to the top hill, after which you will descend to the valley base where a stream will amaze you midst high Himalayas. Also, did you know you will also be able to see a mountain that collapsed back in 1988 causing floods and a blockage in river Ganga? You can relax for some time here, and then proceed towards the top, where the diverse flora will welcome you along with high rise mountains lile Srikant, Jaonli and Dhopadi Ka Danda. The enthralling beauty of this region will urge you to take your cameras out.
Moving further, you will come across a massive green carpet Gidara, an open meadow where you might see cattle grazing. You can sip some tea, indulge with locals, or simply sit by your tent to take in the majestic view of the entire environment.
Day 4: Gidara Bugyal to Bamsaru Lake and back, Day Excursion to Gidara Top (5 - 6 Hours | 4800 m | 12 km)
As soon as the sun gilds over the sky, you will get ready for the next adventure. Today you will allowed to sleep till late, post which you will leave for Bamsaru Lake or Gidara top, its entirely your own choice. For people who will opt for Bamsaru Lake, you will trek for 2 hrs up to an altitude of 16,000 ft, where you will be amazed to see a marvelous view of Bandarpooch range. The encompassed glaciers, and a cold lake midst the ranges will give you the feel of utmost tranquility you came here for. Spend some time solo, then head back to Bugyal, while keeping in mind the spectacular view.
If you chose Gidara, you can relax a bit, as the climb is short and you will also get a 360 degree view from the top, where the cumulative view of Gangotri, Yamunotri and Bandarpooch ranges will ensnare you at one look. After spending some time, you can head back to Bugyal and rest for the night. You can chit chat, or play some games and then sleep to recharge yourself for the next day.
Day 5: Gidara Bugyal to Devkund (10 km | 3150 m)
Today in the morning, post breakfast you will leave behind the divine ecstacy of Bugyal and head to Devkund. At first, the open meadow in the Northern Bugyal makes one feel as if you are on the top of the world. The edge of the mountain is a bit scary, but who said adventure is going to be as easy as ABCD. But you don’t need to worry, as our trip leaders are expert and will keep you safe at all times.
You will proceed further and enroute be prepared with your camera to click the amazing landscapes. After Surya Top, you will walk down to Devkund, where a majestic lake in a Diya shape will be waiting for you. The lake is holistic for the locals, make sure you also respect the rules if any. Camping overnight.
Day 6: Devkund to Barsu via Dayara Bugyal, Drive to Kuflon (6 – 7 Hours | 1200 m |8 km)
After the sun shines brightly, you will get ready for the return journey. Post breakfast, you will leave for Barsu passing through Dayara Bugyal where the locals play footballs or cricket. You can have some tea, and then continue downwards. You will encounter Chavnis, where you might notice catllt grazing. The villagers come down to this location during the monsoons. Click few images and then reach the civilization. On reaching, you will be driven to our campsite at Kuflon. On arrival, sit by a fire, with an ambience enhanced by music.
Day 7: Drive to Dehradun
Today, you will start the return journey, which is drive back to Dehradun. On reaching, you can spend the time at your own leisure.
