Planning Bhutan and Bengal holidays is a marvellous idea to experience the best of both places. Begin your adventure by travelling to the border town of Phuentsholing in Bhutan from either New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport. After staying here at night, get the necessary clearance to go deeper into Bhutan, and then travel to Thimphu. Rest in a hotel at night, and the next morning embark on an amazing sightseeing tour of the Bhutanese capital. Visit Changangkha Lhakhang, Motithang Takin Preserve, Changlimithang Stadium, BBS Tower and Buddha Dordenma statue. Post sightseeing, undertake a road journey to the intriguing city of Paro, and as you reach here, head straight to the hotel.

Visit the local markets in the evening to buy traditional handicrafts, and if time permits, pay homage at the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang. Enjoy an overnight stay here, and the following morning, drive back to the town of Phuentsholing. Later in the day, cross the national border to reach the town of Lataguri in India. This Bhutan Bengal holidays package comes with an optional Jeep safari at your own cost in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas. Try spotting one-horned rhinos and elephants if you avail the safari. The tour ends when you transfer either to Bagdogra Airport or to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station for your journey home.

ITINERARY:

DAY 01: ARRIVAL AT NEW JALPAIGURI RAILWAY STATION OR BAGDOGRA AIRPORT | NJP OR IXB TO PHUENTSHOLING (3-3.5 HOURS APPROX.)
On reaching New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) or Bagdogra Airport (IXB), meet our representative, and drive to Phuentsholing. Upon arrival in the town of Phuentsholing, transfer to the hotel. After completing the check-in formalities spend the evening at leisure. Thereafter, enjoy an overnight stay here.

DAY 02: PHUENTSHOLING TO THIMPHU (164 KM/4-4.5 HOURS APPROX.)
After obtaining the permit to travel deeper into the country, reach Thimphu by road and upon arrival here transfer to the hotel.

DAY 03: SIGHTSEEING IN THIMPHU | TRANSFER FROM THIMPHU TO PARO
The national capital, Thimphu, has some of the most significant tourist attractions in the country. Hordes of people come to the city in the summer season, as it is cool and pleasant. High mountains covered by forests of towering pines in the background, and the Raidak River flowing below make for amazing scenery. Begin the first round of your Bhutan and Bengal holidays sightseeing after breakfast, by visiting some prominent sites in the city.

Visit Changangkha Lhakhang and see the giant statue of Avalokitesvara – the Buddha of compassion. Also explore Motithang Takin Preserve to see the national animal of Bhutan. From the top floor of the BBS Tower, capture the panoramic views of Thimphu, and the valley where the city is geographically located. Also, during the sightseeing tour, travel to the famous Buddha Point or Buddha Dordenma to see a gigantic bronze statue of the deity that shows him in his meditative pose. See the centre of sports and games in the country, Changlimithang Stadium, where archery and soccer matches are organised.

Later in the day, undertake a road journey to the city of Paro, and upon arrival here, transfer to the hotel. In the evening, shop for souvenirs at the local market, and if you still have some time, then pay homage at Kyichu Lhakhang. Constructed in the 7th century, it is among the oldest Buddhist shrines in the Kingdom of Bhutan, and it also has a small stupa in front of it. Come back to the hotel after sightseeing, and enjoy an overnight stay in the city.

DAY 04: PARO TO PHUENTSHOLING | PHUENTSHOLING TO DOOARS (LATAGURI)
This is the other part of this Bhutan Bengal holidays package sightseeing, and it will take you first to Phuentsholing and then to an Indian place known as Dooars. Check-out from the hotel in the morning, and drive to the town of Phuentsholing. From here, reach the Lataguri town in West Bengal. On reaching Lataguri, transfer to the hotel or resort for an overnight stay.

Dooars, in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, are replete with wildlife. While here, spot some animal species like tigers, elephants and the endangered one-horned rhinos.

DAY 05: OPTIONAL JEEP SAFARI | DOOARS (LATAGURI) TO IXB TO NJP
Today you can embark on a Jeep safari through the Dooars at your own cost. Later in the day, travel to Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station to commence your journey back home.
