The small village of Hampi is famed for showcasing the legacy of the Vijayanagara empire. It flourished as the last capital of the kingdom, and the aesthetic wealth of the rulers can be clearly seen in the monuments located here. The monarchs of Vijayanagara constructed numerous buildings, including temples, here that are a major attraction for tourists. Owing to their architectural and historical significance, these have earned a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage Site list. These temples give an insight into the affluent lifestyle of those rulers and also the culture, prevailing at that time. On a heritage tour to Hampi, you will not only learn about the past of the area, but a lot more.

The Mumbai to Hampi tour package is all you need to come across the splendour of the village. Your journey begins from Mumbai, from where you travel to Hospet city in Karnataka in a sleeper bus. From there, you head to the historical village of Hampi to admire the beauty, bestowed on it by sculptors and masons. After your arrival here, begins a sightseeing tour, which takes you to the gems of Hampi. The historical area is dotted with monuments, and an expert guide will give you intriguing information about the kingdom, and these feats of masonry and sculpting. The grand architecture of these buildings may even look more fascinating than that of several ultramodern structures of the 21st century! Dravidian architecture is reflected in the pyramid-shaped temple towers, constructed using granite, sandstone and soapstone.

You will have ample time to explore the ornately carved shrines in the complex, and the in-between meals will keep you energised. The third day of the trip takes you to the banks of the Tungabhadra River, on which you can enjoy a coracle ride. The round boats used by locals to cross rivers will bring you a lot of fun. After the ride, your exploration of the various monuments in Hampi continues. This trip will also take you to the revered Virupaksha Temple, which has a 9-tiered pyramidal tower, called vimana.

As the day ends, you pack your bags and leave for Hospet, where a sleeper bus will be waiting for you. This Hampi tour from Mumbai then takes you back to Maharashtra's capital, where the journey ends.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Mumbai to Hospet
The Hampi tour from Mumbai begins in the evening from the Andheri area of Mumbai, where you meet the rest of the group and leave for Hospet on a sleeper bus. Make a small halt to enjoy dinner, and then continue the road trip; enjoy an overnight stay on the bus.

Day 02: Hospet to Hampi | Hampi Tour
On reaching Hospet, drive further to Hampi, about 12.5 km from here. The last capital of the Hindu kingdom of Vijayanagara, Hampi is now a peaceful village in Karnataka. The numerous monuments in this village that give a glimpse into the affluence of the rulers of the empire have earned a spot in the World Heritage Sites list of UNESCO.

After your arrival at the hotel in Hampi, get some rest. Post a savoury breakfast, embark on a tour of the Hampi village to explore various monuments. The Dravidian architecture, which flourished during the rule of the Vijayanagara monarchs, is clearly recognisable in the historical buildings.

Take a break from the tour to enjoy lunch, and later continue exploring the village. With so many fascinating things to see here, you will enjoy every second of your time. Thereafter, sit back and admire the sight of the setting sun. Following the sunset, travel back to the hotel for dinner and a good night’s sleep.

Day 03: Hampi Tour | Hampi – Hospet – Mumbai
Start the day with a filling breakfast, and then move to the Tungabhadra River for a coracle ride. Coracles are small, round boats that are usually made of cane and bamboo. The local people have been using these boats to cross rivers for a long time.

Later, explore the rest of the monuments of Hampi. Savour delicious South Indian dishes for lunch, and then continue exploring the area.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the shrine still draws a large number of devotees. It is believed to have been a pilgrimage destination since the 7th century. The grandeur of the temple will surely leave you spellbound.

After spending some time here, check-out from the hotel and leave for Hospet.
