Termed after the cherished and respected Hornbill bird, and held in the beautiful hills of Kohima, the festival is a time of merry making and colorful extravaganza, where all the tribes of Nagaland participate. Hornbill. People from all around the world gather to celebrate the authenticity of the tribes and the culture. And to add bonus to the tour, you will also explore the world-famous Kaziranga National Park and go for Dzukou Valley Trek.
On reaching, you must interact with the indigenous tribes which are 16 in count. You can also indulge with the locals to taste rice beer, or see handcraft things made by the locals. Held for ten days, 1st -10th December, Hornbill Festival Nagaland plays host to myriad cultural performances, displays craft bazaars, organizes music events, showcases food varieties, and houses a series of competitions in various activities.
Post enjoying the festival, you will head for Dzukou valley trek, which explicitly beautiful in terms of its natural beauty. On the last two days, you will also explore the wildlife of Kaziranga National Par, which is world famous for its diverseness in flora and fauna.

ITINERARY
Day 1: Drive from Dimapur to Kohima; A day of celebration – Hornbill Festival! (75 Kms)
On reaching Dimapur railway station, you will begin the drive to Kohima, where you will be delighted to see the buzzing markets and local sightseeing points. The drive will keep you hooked with the enchanting beauty of Nagaland. On reaching, after a little rest and a breakfast, you will head-out for the festival. You will leave by 10 am in the morning. The following events of the day will be shared to you by the leader.
Dance your way, take in the festive vibes, and immerse yourself into the music. Interact with people and enjoy the cultural bliss you will encounter in this festival. Interact with the indigenous tribes which are 16 in count. You can also indulge with the locals to taste rice beer, or see handcraft things made by the locals. In the evening, you can go to the campsite nestled within the festival premises.
Day 2: Enjoy the Hornbill festival (2 km car | 10 min)
At daybreak, after a mouthwatering meal of breakfast, you will proceed to experience more thrills and frills of the festival. You can travel around the households of the locals, savor the local food and their most famous chili Bhut Jolokia. Unwind at the campsite, revel with your friends, share your travel stories and get ready for the new quest the next morning.
Day 3: Trek to Dzokou Valley (25 km car | 6 km trek | 1 hour car | 3-4 hours trek)
Today, post breakfast you will begin the trek as a trip to Nagaland is incomplete without a trek. The enchanting valley will take your breath away with its beauty as you will find abundance of greenery after a one hour steep climb. The trek will be nearly of 3 hours, covering a distance of nearly 12 km. The trek will take you to an elevation of almost 9,000 feet. On the top find a spot to click pictures, as the abundant greenery will set as great backdrop for your pictures. Also, the night can freezy, so carry warm clothes. Overnight stay in Dormitory.
Day 4: Exploration of Dzokou Valley | Back to Kohima for Night Carnival (25 km car |1 hour car |6 km trek | 3-4 hours trek)
Wake up fresh and head out for a good breakfast, before you start your day with a trek downward to the valley. Enroute, you will notice small frozen streams wrapped in greenery all around. You will be delighted to take a stroll of small caves and rocks. Pose and click pictures around the caves and then proceed for the return journey to Kohima. On reaching, relax for a while, and then head to the carnival, where the scenario of vibrancy and flamboyance will take your tiredness away. You will love the festival colors all emerging from every corner. Explore the stalls, little shops, and indulge in street food. Later, have an overnight in a homestay.
Day 5: Kohima Sightseeing; Depart for Kaziranga National Park
Today is the day for exploring the wildlife, but before it you will be taking a city tour of Kohima. You will be traveling to the World War II Cemetry, Church and a Musuem in Kohima. Afterwards, you will head for Kaziranga National Park where a wildlife safari will introduce you to plethora of flora and fauna. On reaching, you will enter the mystical region of the national park, where the cool air will entice you and will let you unwind. Relax for a while when you reach your stay.
Day 6: Wildlife Safari, Drive to Guwahati (70 km drive | 3-4 hours)
Today morning, you will take the wildlife safari of Kaziranga National Park. You will leave at 7 am for the safari to see wildlife animals. There are better chances to spot animals in the morning than in the evening. The jeep will take you around the park, be ready with camera to click amazing shots for your Instagram feed. Afterwards you will begin the drive to Guwahati, where you will stay for tonight. Your hotel will close to airport, so that it will be easy for you to check-out from the hotel and drive to airport on time.
Day 7: Departure Day
Get up on time to have a good meal of breakfast. Then, pack your bags as the checkout time from the hotel will be 10 am.
