When the desire for some adventure starts getting heavy on you, seek refuge at Kali Wilderness Camp Dandeli. It is one of the many ventures of the Karnataka state government, meant to provide tourists with comfortable lodgings while they are in the wild. Located by the raging Krishna River, this site will surely satisfy the adventure freak in you. You will live in any of the 10 comfortable rooms inside the main bungalow-style building of the establishment. Each of these has attached bathrooms, and the bungalow has a large dining hall, where conferences and meetings may also be organised. If you think that camping is the way to go, then choose from their 12 Swiss-style tents facing the river. Each tent has a hammock to lazily spend your day, and a separate area for enjoying your meals in tranquility.
In typical fashion like jungle lodges and resorts, the large open gazebo used as the common dining area is named Gol Ghar. The chefs here are the best among all Kali River adventure camps, as along with local dishes, they are also well-versed in Continental flavours. For your ultimate indulgence, there is a full-fledged bar, housed inside the main building of the campus. You may watch TV at the lounge inside the bungalow, and the establishment also has internet connection. A wildlife safari Dandeli is always on offer here as the region is home to a large number of animals and birds. Anshi-Dandeli Tiger Reserve, where the campsite is, consists of both montane evergreen forests and dry deciduous jungles of the Western Ghats. Bintangur, Malabar tamarind, gamboge, milkwood pine, wild jack, monkey fruit, cinnamon, bamboo, eucalyptus, silver oak and teak are some trees found here.
The national park has black panthers, gaurs, wild boars, sloth bears, elephants, tigers, langurs, squirrels, civets, eagles, kites, cobras, kraits, pythons, vipers, lizards and loads of other creatures to see. Kali River is reportedly the only region other than the mighty Himalayas, where rafting is available throughout the year. A particular section of the river has strong currents and large rapids, which will require all your skills and concentration to conquer. On the calmer sections of the Kali stream, kayaking, coracle rides and canoeing can be enjoyed. As the establishment has a hilly terrain, opting for thrilling mountain biking is also possible. A trip to the region and the property will rejuvenate you from within, and leave you full of happiness and energy.
