ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival into Leh; Acclimatization Day |Overnight stay in Leh
You will arrive in Leh, post which you will check-in at your stay. After resting for a while, head out to explore the local sightseeing. Exploration will also allow your body to get acclimatize, as due to sudden temperature and weather change body needs some time to adjust. In the evening, enjoy sunset at Shanti Stupa, and if time permits, you will be taken to Leh Palace.
Day 2: River Rafting; Local Sightseeing | Overnight stay in Leh
Today you will experience adventure where the chilly waters of Zanskar will splash on you as you raft through 14 km of rapids, taking in the entire scenery of the majestic Zanskar valley. Afterwards, you will visit the Hall of Fame, Museum, Magnetic Hill and Gurudwara PatharSaheb. And those who want to ride in Ladakh, this is the day as the road is smooth and riding along Indus River will keep you enthralled throughout the ride.
Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La - 125 kms (4-5 hours) | Overnight stay at Nubra Valley
As soon as the sun gilds over the skies, your day will start with breakfast, post which you will head out for Nubra Valley via Khardungla Pass. Squashed between Karakoram Range and Ladakh Range, Nubra Valley also hosts Shyok and Nubra Rivers, which are breath-taking in beauty. Also the village is nestled within two valley floors, where you will also find variety of fruits, vegetables, grains and more. You will also visit the Diskit Monastery, which is known to be the largest monastery and is 550 years old. At night, you will be amazed to sleep beneath millions of stars in the tent, whereas the dinner will be the scrumptious local food.
Day 4: Day Excursion to Turtuk – 90 Kms (3-4 Hours one way)
In the morning, after a scrumptious meal of breakfast, you will head to the most unexplored part of Ladakh which is Turtuk village, from where you will be able to see Mt. K2, World’s Second Highest Mountain on a clear day. Located on the banks of Shyok River, Turtuk must be visited as it was under PoK until the 1971 war. Relax for some while, relish some tea and just chill with your friends. After little exploration, you will head back to Diksit for overnight stay.
Day 5: Nubra to PangongTso via Shyok, Visit Sand Dunes and Camel Safari - 140 kms (4-5 hours) | Overnight stay at Pangong
As soon as you wake up, you will get ready to visit the sand dunes at Hunder, which is a desert at this high altitude. Fortunately, this desert also has a camel, but it is a Bactrian camel which is found only here in the entire world. Another interesting visit is to Pangong Lake, which is also known to be the largest brackish water lake in Asia. To come here, you will have to come via road running parallel to Shyok River. Afterwards, you can unwind by the lakeside taking pleasure in nature’s art. Also, during the full moon Pangong Lake looks remarkably glorious.
Day 6: Pangong Tso to Leh – 150 kms (4-5 hours) | Overnight stay in Leh
After the sun gilds over the skies at Pangong, you will get up for a scrumptious breakfast, and then will prepare to head out for Leh. Enroute you can visit Hemis and Thiksey Monasteries to click pictures and also to know more about Ladakhi culture. On reaching, relax the entire day or spend time at your own leisure.
Day 7: Leh to Kargil via Lamayuru – 240 kms (7-8 hours) | Overnight stay in Kargil
Today morning, you will head out to experience the Leh –Srinagar highway, which is known to be picturesque in beauty. On the way, you will come across Moonland, which is a well-known hilltop monastery of Lamayuru, and also spectacle the Ancient temple of Buddha as you proceed towards Kargil. Overnight stay in Kargil.
Day 8: Kargil to Srinagar via Drass – 200 kms (7-8 hours) | Overnight stay at Srinagar
Wake up early in the morning, and get ready to leave for Srinagar via Drass, which is the second coldest place in the world. Enroute, you will come across Kargil War Memorial, a signature place for patriotism. Moving on, you will enter a pass called Zoji La, where the terrain will change completely as you arrive in the heaven-like valley Sonmarg. The splendid view of the landscape, the greenery, gigantic mountains and the beautiful Sindhu river will leave you in awe. On reaching Srinagar, you can enjoy a shikara ride and later spend time at the floating market of Dal Lake. Overnight stay in house boats.
Day 9: Departure
Today is the last day of your trip. Get up in the morning, pack your bags to leave for return journey. Fly off as per your flight schedule.
