Ladakh has many passes, lakes and other landforms situated at immense heights, and this trip makes some of these sites accessible. Learn the culture, traditions and history of the region on this amazing tour. The excursion will take you to some of the oldest and most-visited monasteries of Ladakh. Visit the photogenic Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa after reaching the Leh city by flight. These visits will be followed by a stroll in the local market, where interesting handicrafts produced by Ladakhi artists are available. It presents a good opportunity to indulge in some souvenir shopping.

On the second morning of the excursion, visit some popular sites in the Sham region. The monasteries of Likir and Alchi, confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers, and the Hall of Fame museum are some of these destinations. Next day, explore the mesmerising Nubra Valley, locally called Ldumra. Enjoy an overnight stay here, and the following morning transfer back to the hotel in Leh. The road journeys on this tour will be quite adventurous as you will experience travelling on two of the highest motorable roads in the world. They have developed quite a reputation for themselves among adventure lovers, and the various events organised here testify to this fact.

Your next destination is the spellbinding natural lake, known as Pangong Tso. Tourists from all parts of the world travel to Ladakh to witness its enchanting beauty. Return to the hotel in Leh on the same day, and rejuvenate at the hotel. At this point, the tour concludes and the next morning, you transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Leh | Local Sightseeing
On arrival at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport, meet our representative and transfer to the hotel. After check-in, relax and prepare for the evening excursion. The sightseeing tour will take you to Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and the local market. The palace, built in the 17th century during the reign of King Sengge Namgyal, features a museum displaying incredible pieces of jewellery, and paintings.

Shanti Stupa, situated in the outskirts of the city is a monument, constructed by Ladakhi and Japanese monks, to propagate the idea of world peace. Thereafter, stroll in the market to buy souvenirs while appreciating the local art. Later, return to the hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 02: Leh – Sham Region – Leh
Post breakfast, drive to Alchi Monastery, and on the way stop at Likir gompa. The latter, around 48 km from Leh, features an approximately 75-feet tall statue of Maitreya Buddha. After paying respects to the deity, transfer to Alchi gompa.

Located in Alchi village, the monastery is considered a tourist jewel of Ladakh. After admiring the artistic and spiritual wall paintings at the establishment, leave for Gurdwara Pathar Sahib. This place has an interesting story and a great religious importance for the local people.

The next stop on the tour will be the hugely admired Hall of Fame, built to honour those, who died fighting in the region. Admire the magnificent sight of the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. Spend some time looking at this incredibly picturesque view, and then drive back to Leh. On arrival in the city, transfer to hotel for a rejuvenating sleep.

Day 03: Leh to Nubra Valley
After breakfast, travel to the enchanting realm of the Nubra Valley. On the way, pass through the popular Khardung La, which is widely considered as the highest motorable road in the world. Once at the summit, remember to take photos of the sight of the peaks of the Zanskar Range. You may be amazed, but a ride on the backs of double-humped camels is also offered as part of this tour. These animals have captured the attention of tourists in Diskit village and the town of Hunder. After the ride, travel to your lodging in the valley for an overnight stay.

Day 04: Nubra Valley to Leh
After breakfast, travel to Diskit gompa, founded by Changzem Tserab Zangpo. It features an approximately 106-feet tall statue of Maitreya Buddha, and it is administered by the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Enjoy the same awe-inspiring views from Khardung La that you saw the previous day, on your way back to Leh. On reaching here, transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 05: Leh – Pangong Tso – Leh
Post breakfast, travel to the mesmerising Pangong Tso, passing through the high-altitude mountain pass of Chang La. At an altitude of over 17000 feet, Chang La is claimed by many to be among the highest motorable roads on earth. The turquoise water of Pangogn Tso, surrounded by the reddish-brown mountains of the Karakoram Range, appears to change its colour at different times of the day. It has become one of the major attractions to visit for tourists who travel to Ladakh. Later travel back to Leh through Chang La for an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 06: Departure from Leh
In the morning, transfer to Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport for your onward flight.
