A small village situated in the Western Ghats (Sahyadri Hills), Rajmachi (Udhewadi) is a popular tourist destination. Rajmachi Fort overlooks Bor Ghat (ghat between Khandala and Khopoli), which was once a very important trade route. Shrivardhan Fort and Manaranjan Fort are its major attractions, luring numerous trekking enthusiasts all year round. There are also Buddhist caves located on Rajmachi plateau’s western slope, known as Kondane Caves, dating back to the 1st century BC. The beautiful sculptures and carvings inside the caves are worth exploring.

Itinerary
Day 1: Mumbai – Rajmachi
Reach Lonavala at 9 am and have a hearty breakfast. At 10 am, leave for Fanasrai Village by local transport. At the village, after a brief introduction, start the 3 hours Rajmachi Trek at 12 pm. Walk amidst the lush forest and roaring waterfalls that are most alive during monsoon. You will also find numerous trees and blackberry bushes on your way up. It is a unique and most fulfilling experience to watch the beauty of nature as you ascend the hill. Enjoy your lunch amidst the beautiful hills and greenery. By 3 pm, get back to the village and take some rest before starting your trek towards the Shrivardhan Fort. Get to the top and behold multi-hued sunset above the surrounding hills. Then get back to the village by 7 pm and relax for some time. Re-fuel with a delicious dinner and enjoy a night walk to the lake. Get a good night sleep and re-energize for the next day.
Day 2: Rajmachi – Mumbai
Wake up in the cradle of nature at 6 am and gear up for an exciting day. Start trekking towards Manaranjan Fort at 6.30 am. On reaching the top, explore this ancient fort which houses a square lake full of water, watchmen houses and ammunition repositories. The fort also offers stunning views from the top, so enjoy them to the fullest. Return to the village by 9 am and have a filling breakfast. You will then descend to Karjat and reach there by 12 pm. Embark on an adventurous Trek to Kondane Caves and explore the Buddhist caves there. Witness the beautiful waterfalls that originate from above the caves during monsoon. Get back to the village by 1 pm, have your lunch, and head to Karjat Station, leaving the paradisiacal destination. At 4.30 pm, start your journey towards Mumbai, with beautiful memories.
