Sikkim is a landlocked state, lying between Nepal, Tibet, West Bengal and Bhutan. This off-beat and quaint destination is the least populated state of India. Due to its location in the Himalayas, Sikkim is home to Eastern Himalayas, with the world’s third highest mountain peak Kanchenjunga situated here. It is a delight to visit this North Eastern state and its essence lies in its geographical diversity.
Sikkim is a must visit place if you want to experience trekking, mountaineering and other soft adventures. Even a road trip to different towns is an adventure in itself. Each route offers more majestic views than the other. Every corner is a delight for photographers.
In our 6 days’ trip, you will witness the beauty of the capital city of Gangtok, along with other popular destinations like Tsomgo Lake, Lachung and Yumthang Valley. This is a perfect way to explore Sikkim and get to know all that this beautiful North Eastern state has to offer in terms of natural vistas and culture.
DETAILED ITINERARY:
DAY 01: Arrival NJP /IXB to Gangtok
Arrive at NJP / Bagdogra, and begin your journey to the capital city of Sikkim which is a thriving hill town. The road journey will pass through lush greenery across Teesta River. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 02: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir (Timing will depend on the issuance of Permit)
Have an early breakfast and set out for an adventure ride to Tsomgo Lake amidst rocky mountains. The lake is considered to be very sacred for the local Sikkimese people. It is situated at a height of 3780 mts with an average depth of 50 ft. The scenic beauty of the lake changes depending on the season one is visiting. After spending some quality time by the lake, drive further towards the Baba Mandir, a commemorative shrine made by the Army in honour of Sepoy Harbhajan Singh. Return to Gangtok by late evening. You may later venture out to the famed MG road to get a feel of the Sikkimese night life. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 03: Gangtok to Lachung (Timing will depend on the issuance of Permit)
Today wake up early as you have another exciting long journey to Lachung in North Sikkim awaiting you. North Sikkim is a sparsely populated area and boasts stunning mountain vistas. The road to Lachung is not only adventurous but often treacherous too. Enroute Lachung you will be passing by Phodong monastery, numerous water falls, Chungthang valley. You may stop at each place for a photo session. Reach Lachung by late afternoon. Check in to the hotel. Day at leisure.
DAY 04: Excursion to Yumthang Valley & Back
After breakfast proceed to Yumthang Valley. Also known as Valley of Rhododendron flowers, this is the summer grazing ground of the yaks & winter playgrounds of yetis. On the way back visit the Hot Spring considered to have medicinal properties. You can choose to go further towards zero point which is the end of Indo-China border .Back to resort for lunch. Overnight stay at Lachung.
DAY 05: Lachung to Gangtok
After breakfast leave for Gangtok. Enroute stop at Singhik view point where if you are lucky with a clear sky, you will get fabulous views of the Kanchenjunga ranges. This location offers a majestic view of Mt. Pandim, Mt. Kabru, Mt. Simvo, Mt. Jopuno, Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Siniolchu. Evening you may indulge in some last minute shopping. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 06: Gangtok to NJP / IXB
Today as the tour comes to an end, get ready to leave for airport/ railway station to return back home happily.
