Summers in India are often long, and sometimes you need a break from the hot and humid weather. You can take this opportunity and plan a getaway to the Himalayas. Go on Patalsu Peak trek if you want your vacations to be full of excitement. This expedition is five days long, and will take you to a maximum height of 13451 feet above sea level at the summit of Mount Patalsu. Look for the trek dates and reach the town of Manali a day before the hike begins.

Patalsu Peak trekking begins from the old bridge on the day following your arrival in the town. You first travel up to the famous Solang Valley, which becomes a buzzing ski resort in the winter season. After camping at night on the banks of the Beas River, you resume your Patalsu Peak trekking tour, and meander through the mountains to the meadow of Shagadugh. In the roughly 7 hours, for which you will keep on the trails the next day, you will scale Patalsu Peak and return to Shagadugh. You will then trek down to the Solang Valley and board a vehicle to Manali.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival in Rumsu Base Camp 
Reporting at Rumsu Base camp at 0800 AM. Upon arrival, freshen up and breakfast will be served at the Base Camp. Trekkers will go through registration process post which lunch will be served. Later trekkers will get a chance to indulge in adventure activities like Rock climbing and Rappelling and then embark on an acclimatization walk around Naggar.In the evening , orientation with regard to the trek will be provided along with evening snacks. Orientation will cover tips on backpacking, marching techniques while trekking, general informations on medical awareness.

Day 02: Manali to Solang valley Duration: 4-5 hours
Begin the Patalsu Peak trek after freshening up in the morning. Travel to the old bridge across the Beas River to meet your guide and team. The starting section of your journey will take you along the river for four to five hours. On the way you will pass the villages of Goshal, Barwa and Shanag. You will cross the Beas River near the Solang Valley, and then continue trekking up to your campsite. The camps will be set-up on the banks of the river below the Solang village. Today you will be takenfor an acclimatization walk to Anjali Mahadev ( duration - 2 hours )

Day 03: Solang Valley to Shagadugh Duration: 4-5 hours
This section of Patalsu Peak trekking will transport you to the beautiful meadow of Shagadugh. You will meander through mixed forests of oak and pine, and as you reach higher altitudes, you will see giant slopes of the Solang Valley. Here the pine and oak vegetation will be taken over by groves of deodar, and white mountains will be visible in the distance. You will continue hiking through the valley, and pass the village of Solang. After a long and gruelling climb, you will reach Shagadugh. Shagadugh is a lush alpine grassland where you will stay overnight.

Day 04: Shagadugh to Patalsu Peak | Patalsu Peak to Shagadugh Duration: 6-7 hours
Prepare yourselves for the longest and toughest section of Patalsu Peak trekking tour as soon as you wake up. The first hour of the walk will be through a mixed forest of conifers and oak. After this section is over, you will have scaled a substantial height, and the trees will disappear altogether. The rest of the trail is exposed, rocky and relatively unmarked. After about 4 hours of hiking, you will conquer the Patalsu Peak, which is roughly 13845 feet high. The journey will give you magnificent views of many snowbound peaks of the Dhauladhar and Great Himalayan ranges. Later in the day, start descending and retrace the path to the Shagadugh campsite.

Day 05: Shagadugh to Solang Valley Duration: 5 hours
Start your journey to Solang Nullah from Shagadugh early in the morning. At Shagadugh, board a vehicle and drive back to Manali. Departure from Manali by 5 PM.

1. Camping Tents, Kitchen tents, Dining Tent and Sleeping bags (Holofill) and carry mats
2. Nutritious, high calorie vegetarian food. (Food Cycle starts with Lunch on Day 2 and ends with pack lunch on Day 8)
3. Guide, cook and camp helpers
4. Horses with horsemen to carry loads on the route. (Participant will only have to carry a small hiking day pack with their water bottle, some trail food and trail layers. Everything else will be carried on horses.) There is a 10 kg weight limit for your bags that will go on Horses
5. Tents on triple sharing basis (3 people in each tent)

1. Any expenses of personal nature like phone call etc
2. Any air/train to reach Delhi and return from Delhi
3. Travel from Delhi to Manali
4. Any hotel accommodation in Manali
5. Your accommodation or any other expenses on Day 01 and Day 05 after you arrive in Manali
6. Extra food apart from mentioned above
7. Anything not mentioned above
8. GST @ 5.0%
