Everyone around the world wants to see the world’s highest mountain at least once in their life, and that’s the sole reason why people want to travel to Everest Base Camp. But trekking from Phaplu to Everest Base Camp takes time, which means you have ample time to acclimatize. The route follows a picturesque trail to the Everest.

 

The best part of this route is that you will gradually get acclimatized to the climate and altitude of Khumbu region. Your journey from Phaplu to Everest Base Camp trek will take you through Taksindu, Khari Khola, Phakding, and Paiya. While trekking you will be amazed to see the sceneries, beautiful forests of pine and rhododendrons, and tiny villages of Sherpa settlements. You will also hike around the gushing river of Dudh Kosi, taking in the entire perspective of a river midst high-altitude Mountains.

 

Phaplu Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal is also great because you reach Phakding via drive, taking in the resplendent beauty of the countryside. After reaching Phakding, you will follow the normal route of Tengboche, Dingboche and Lobuche.

 

As you proceed from Lobuche to EBC at 5,200 m, you will have a remarkable spectacle of alpine forests, nomadic territories, small house settlements, barley fields and the mighty north-facing the Everest Mountain. The magnificence of the mountains you see at EBC will make you marvel at Earth’s amazing glories. ITINERARY

 

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu

As soon as you arrive in Kathmandu airport (Tribhuwan International Airport), you will transfer you to a Guesthouse. After settling your belongings, you can head-out to explore the city. Kathmandu is a well-known city and is the capital of Nepal. Visit 7 world heritage sites of UNESCO - Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Changu Narayan, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath.

 

Day 2 : Drive from Kathmandu to Phaplu (270 km | 8-9 hrs | 2,451m)

Today, you will drive to Phaplu, which will take you 8 hours to reach. On the way you will see the countryside which keep you hooked throughout the drive. The road is decent to drive with little bumps and turns. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

 

Day 3: Phaplu to Ringmo (5-6 hrs | 2,720 m)

In the morning, you will get ready to head-out for Ringmo. You will trek through a beautiful trail laden with pine and Rhododendron forest, where the chattering of birds and other hums will keep you hooked. It will take you 5-6 hours to reach. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

 

Day 4 : Trek from Ringmo to Khari Khola (5-6 hrs | 1,985m)

Today morning, after getting ready, you will proceed towards Khari Khola. The route at first will be a gentle ascent for nearly 1-2 hours to Takshindo La Pass. On reaching, you will get great views of Thamserku, Kantega, Kusum, Kangaru and the beautiful Mera peak. Moving on, you will go downhill through Sherpa settlements and forest trails to Nunthala. After glancing the town of Nunthala, you will continue to trek downhill towards Dudh Kosi River and then you will walk on the long-suspension bridge. Walk through fields of barley, corn and wheat to huge Rai village of Jubing. Then climb up the ridge and reach the village of Khari Khola. Overnight in teahouse.

 

Day 5 : Trek from Khari Khola to Paiya (6 hrs | 2,730 m)

As soon as the morning unfolds, you move out and begin the trek. First cross the suspension bridge, and then the trail will be an upward climb to Bupsa. You will pass the village of Kharte through a forest where you will encounter lot of monkeys. You will attractive views of Cho Oyu, which are perfect for some clicks. Continue walking till a teashop on Khari Pass, from there the trail goes downhill to Paiya Khola. Cross the bridge, and you will reach the settlement area of Paiya Khola. Overnight in a teahouse.

 

Day 6 : Trek from Paiya to Phakding (6-7 hrs | 2,610 m)

In the morning, head-out to explore Phakding. You will begin the trek that goes up and down for an hour till you reach Puiyan, from there you will climb on to a ridge where you will get splendid view of Khumbu region. Click pictures, and proceed downwards to Surke. Cross boulders and beautiful mani walls to reach at Chablung, from there the trail is again a downhill till Thado Khosi gain. Cross the suspension bridge and view the Mt Kusum Kangru. Continue walking upwards to Ghat on the banks of Dudh Kosi River, on reaching visit the monastery quickly and then an easy walk will take you to Phakding. Overnight in a teahouse.

 

Day 7 : Trek from Phakding to Namche (7.4 km | 5-6 hrs | 3,440m)

In the morning, proceed the trek to Namche. You will cross the river again on suspension bridges. A little walk will take you Jorsele the gateway to Sagarmatha National Park. You will see the first view of Mt. Everest after crossing the national park. You will take 5-6 hours to reach Namche, which is a buzzing market. Overnight stay in teahouse.

 

Day 8 : Trek from Rest day in Namche (3,440 m)

Today day is for rest and exploration of the city. You can visit the nearby areas, monasteries or savor the local cuisine and you can also take some souvenirs for yourself from Namche market. Overnight stay in teahouse.

 

Day 9 : Trek from Namche to Tengboche (5.7 km | 5-6 hrs |3,860 m)

In the morning, your trek will continue to Tengboche. While trekking appreciate the beautiful view of Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and a close up view of Thamserku. You will pass through a trail that goes up and down to Kyangjuma. Pass through Sanasa, pine tree forest, walk over the bridge to Dudh Kosi River and reach Phunki Tenga, a small area of tea houses. After crossing Phunki Tenga through pine forests you will reach Tengboche where you will magnificent views of Ama Dablam, Everest, and Nuptse. Overnight in teahouse.

 

Day 10 : Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (9.7 km |5-6 hrs |4,358 m)

In the morning, start from Tengboche and hike on the fascinating trail To Dingboche. It will take you 5-6 hours to reach the designated destination. Enjoy the close-up of Mt. Ama Dablam. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

 

Day 11 : Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (6.6 km |5-6 hrs | 4,410 m)

Today, start your day from a climb to Lobuche, enjoy the views of Chola Lake and a majestic view of Mt. Pumori. Look at the numerous memorials of Sherpas here. Spot majestic peaks from this point, including Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal. Hike up to Lobuche. Overnight stay in teahouse.

 

Day 12 : Rest Day in Lobuche (4,410 m)

Today is the rest day in Lobuche for acclimatization. You will visit the stunning, icy pyramid of Nuptse which will help you to fight mountain sickness on the way to EBC.

 

Day 13 : Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorak Shep (5,320 m)

Today, trek further towards Gorakshep, a tiny hamlet. You will see amazing views of the north ridge of Everest as well as Mt. Pumori, Mt Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, etc. A small climb upwards will reveal to you panoramic views of the snowy peaks. A sharp view of Kala Pathhar can also be observed. Walk through the rocky trails to finally reach Everest Base Camp. On the way to EBC you might eccentric rock and ice cave formations. Return to Gorakshep later. Overnight stay in teahouse.

 

Day 14: Trek from Gorak Shep to Kala Pattar to Dingboche

Today morning, your first task for today is climbing the peak, called Kala Patthar or Black Rock. From the summit point, you will be able to see several of the highest summits in the world like Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Kantega, Thamserku, Tawatse, Pumori and Changtse. Later, make a short descent to reach Dingboche. Overnight stay in tea house or lodge in Dingboche.

 

Day 15 : Trek from Dingboche to Namche Bazaar (14 km | 7-8 hrs | 3,440m)

Today trek downhill to Pangboche village passing through Shomare. In Pangboche you can visit the old monastery once you reach. Later, continue trekking further down to Deboche and then climb up to Tengboche. Descend from Tengboche to Dudh Koshi River. Cross the bridge and trek on to reach Mong La. Then pass through Melingo and Sansa, small villages. Walk further to Namche Bazaar. Overnight stay here. Visit around to explore this lovely tourist destination.

 

Day 16 : Trek from Namche Bazar to Chaurikharka (10 km |6-7 hrs)

In the morning, trek downhill to Monjo, and then to Phakding-ghat and reach to Chaurikharka. You will trek through the same route when you hike Paiya to Phakding. Overnight stay in teahouse.

 

Day 17 : Trek from Chaurikharka to Bupsa (5-6 hrs)

Rise to a beautiful morning, and get ready for the day. Today you will go to Bupsa which is a small village where you can visit the famous Buddhist Monastery. It will take you 5-6 hours to reach Bupsa. Overnight stay in teahouse.

 

Day 18 : Trek from Bupsa to Taksindu (7-8 hrs | 2,960m)

Start the trek from Bupsa village and continue on the trail where you will again see great views of high altitude mountains. With 7-8 hours of continuous trek you will reach Taksindu Monastery. Overnight stay in teahouse.

 

Day 19 : Trek from Taksindu to Phaplu

In the morning, you will proceed on the trek to Phaplu, passing through various forests and beautiful trails laden with lush greenery. On reaching, enjoy time with your trek mates.

 

Day 20 : Phaplu to Kathmandu drive (271 km | 8 hrs)

Today, you will drive to Kathmandu, which will take you 8 hours to reach. On the way you will see the countryside which keep you hooked throughout the drive. The road is decent to drive with little bumps and turns. Overnight stay in a teahouse.

 

Day 21 : Departure

In the morning according to your flight timings you will be transferred to the International Airport.
