In the Ratanwadi village of Maharashtra lies the ancient Ratangad Fort that overlooks the Sahyadri range of mountains. The 2000 years old fort is situated atop Ratangad peak, which stands at a height of 4,255 feet. During your Ratangad Trek, at the peak, you will find a natural rock cavity which is called ‘Eye of the Needle’ or ‘Nedhe’. It is called so due to its shape. Itinerary
Day 1: Mumbai – Ratanwadi
Pack your bags with all the important things that you may require for the trek. Make sure you keep it light so that it doesn’t hinder your ascend. At 11 pm reach the mentioned site in Dadar (East) to join your team. Start from Dadar to Thane and reach there by 12 am. From Thane, head to Ratanwadi (base village) for the Trek to Ratangad Fort. Rest well throughout the journey and get energized for the next big day.
Day 2: Ratanwadi – Mumbai
Reach the base village by 5 am and wait for a beautiful sunrise. Fill your stomach with a fulfilling breakfast at 6 am and get ready to ascend Ratangad. Begin your Ratangad Fort Trekking Tour at 7 am after being briefed about the place and trekking instructions. Climb the hill amidst beautiful greenery that is fresh from the monsoon rains. You will also come across many waterfalls, en route. The trek involves making your way through green fields and lush forests. It is one of the most beautiful treks in the Sahyadri range so keep your cameras ready and click as many pictures as you can. On reaching the top, explore the spectacular Ratangad Fort, with four wells at its four gates – Trimbak, Ganesh, Konkan, and Hanuman. Along with the ruins, there are water cisterns at the fort which serve as a source of water for thirsty trekkers. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Sahyadri range from the fort and bask in the beauty of nature. At 11 am, start descending the peak and get to the base village by 1.30 pm. Have a delicious lunch at 2 pm and rest for a while. By 3.30 pm, you will start your return journey to Mumbai, cherishing the lovely time spent in Ratangad.
