A Savandurga trek is one of the many adventure activities that you can undertake near Bengaluru. The hike takes you to the top of a cliff, which is among the largest monoliths in the world. It appears as a high granite wall with no vegetation and is in contrast to the lush jungles below. The elevation of the summit is roughly 4022 feet above sea level, and its height makes it a hiking paradise.
Ancient burial urns, found on the hill, make Savandurga day trek of interest to historians and anthropologists. Before beginning the journey to the top, you can pay homage at the temple, dedicated to Lord Virabhadra at the foot of the cliff. At the top, there is a shrine, paying homage to Narsimha, the half-lion, half-man form of Lord Vishnu. These two houses of God make the monolith a pilgrimage destination for devotees. You will be able to see the ruins of the fortification, constructed by Kempegowda, the ruler who found the city of Bengaluru, on the hillock.
The day trek to Savandurga is easy in its initial stages, and then it gets tougher as you proceed further towards the summit. This hike will give you loads of experience in the art of mountaineering and rock climbing, and it will prepare you for tougher expeditions in the Himalayas. Utmost physical fitness is of supreme importance for participating in the excursion. As this Savandurga Day trekking tour will subject you to the heat of the sun, you need to carry enough drinking water. The rock will be quite slippery and the soil may be loose, so wear those shoes that will give you good traction.
