If you are looking for a holiday that will encompass visits to some of the most stunning natural surroundings, a tryst with towns that still have the old world charm alive, look no further. The north eastern adventure, over a period of 11 days, takes you from Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim, to the beautiful town of Darjeeling in North Bengal.

In this trip you cover picturesque places like Lachung, Pelling, and Kalimpong that open you up to the never ending exquisiteness of the north east. While you travel from one place to another by road, you cross streams and rivers, pass through lush and thick forests and tea plantations, admiring the simple yet serene life of the people. This is also a great opportunity to observe and understand the local culture.

While there is sightseeing at every location, where you visit monasteries, gardens, waterfalls and more, the highlight of this all is the unparalleled view of the mighty Kanchenjunga, especially from Tiger Hill in Darjeeling, where you get to witness the sun rising over this magnificent peak.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

DAY 01: NJP/ IXB to Gangtok
Welcome to the land of the rustic Himalayas!
As you arrive at NJP / Bagdogra, we take you to the happening capital city of Sikkim, Gangtok. It is the best place to start your journey to experience the eastern Himalayas and its local culture & cuisines. On arrival, check in to the comforts of your hotel and take some rest and sleep to get over the day’s fatigue.

DAY 02: Excursion To Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir (timing will depend on the issuance of Permit)
As you wake up fresh, enjoy a sumptuous breakfast and leave for an exciting mountain excursion to Tsomgo Lake & baba mandir. The lake is considered to be a sacred spot for Sikkimese population which is the major source of water. The lake is very scenic in both summer and winter time. Spend some time absorbing the natural views from the Tsomgo Lake and proceed to Baba mandir – a shrine made in honour of Sepoy Harbhajan Singh by the Indian Army to commemorate his martyrdom. Return back to the city by evening. If you still have the energy left for the day, you may venture out to the famous M.G road of Gangtok – indulge in some shopping or just enjoy the night life. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 03: Gangtok to Lachung (timing will depend on the issuance of Permit)
Here comes the most thrilling part of the tour as you get ready early in the morning post breakfast and leave for north Sikkim. You will cross several waterfalls, Phodong monastery and Chanthang valley. You will get ample moments to capture some great shots. Reach Lachung by late afternoon. Check in to the hotel. Take rest and get acclimatized in the high altitude. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 04: Excursion to Yumthang Valley
Have breakfast and leave for Yumthang Valley which is also called the Valley of Flowers of North East. In summers it is a grazing ground for the yaks. This valley comes alive with a riot of colours in the spring, with rhododendrons in full bloom. On the way back visit the Hot Spring considered to have medicinal properties. Back to resort for lunch. Overnight stay at Lachung.

DAY 05: Lachung to Gangtok
We have breakfast and leave for Gangtok. The journey would take around 6 hours. On the way we make a quick stop at Singhik view point and click some pictures. On a clear day, you can see the Kanchenjunga Range from here that includes majestic views of Mt Pandim, Mt Kabru and Mt Kanchenjunga. We will also come across Phodong Monastery and if time permits we can visit this place. Reach Gangtok by late afternoon and check in to the hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 06: Gangtok to Pelling
Have a sumptuous breakfast and pack your bags again to visit yet another stunning landscape which Sikkim has to offer, Pelling. On the way we visit popular tourist spots in Gangtok like Do Drul Chorten, directorate of ancient Tibetology and handlooms (all closed on Sundays). The small hill town offers maximum closest view of Kanchenjunga that one can get without sacrificing much of the basic comforts of travelling. The town is less populated and possesses rare natural beauty having the oldest monastery ever built in Sikkim. Arrive at Pelling by afternoon, check in to the hotel. If you are up for it, you may go out for some leisurely walk around the town to its nearest villages to get some taste of the local life.

DAY 07: Full Day Sightseeing In Pelling
After breakfast go for a full day sightseeing tour covering first half of the day. We cover Rimbi Waterfalls, Rimbi Rock Garden, Kanchenjunga waterfalls, and Khechepadi wishing Lake. In the Second half of the day we visit Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabedentse Ruins, Tikjuk view point and helipad ground . Today’s sightseeing involves a lot of walking as vehicles are allowed only up to a certain point. Hence suggest you to carry good walking shoes with you while on this trip.

DAY 08: Pelling to Kalimpong
Today get ready early in the morning as you will be going to Kalimpong, another small bustling hill town that boast stunning Kanchenjunga views .On arrival at Kalimpong, check in at the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing and exploring the surrounding areas, and return to the hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 09: Kalimpong Sightseeing, Later Transfer To Darjeeling
After breakfast proceed for a local sightseeing tour of the Della hills, Orchid Nursery, Dr. Grahams Home, Mangal Dham and Buddhist monastery .Come back to the hotel to pack your bags and leave for Darjeeling which is a hill resort made popular by the British Raj. Darjeeling boasts an old world beauty surrounded by tea plantation areas, old British architecture and narrow steep lanes. One gets to play peek-a-boo with Kanchenjunga range here depending on the weather conditions. Arrive and check in to the hotel. Spend the evening at leisure and overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 10: Darjeeling
Start this day early at about 4 AM get ready to go to the Tiger Hill, famous for sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga. On the way back to the hotel, visit Ghoom Monastery, Batasia Loop. After breakfast proceed for a 7 points sightseeing tour to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute & PNZ Zoological Park (both closed on Thursday) Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refuge Centre (closed on Sunday), Tea Garden (outer view), Japanese Temple, Peace Pagoda & Ropeway (operational, ropeway ride ticket to be paid by guest directly). Evening stroll around the mall road, enjoy some local cuisines or may be indulge in some souvenir shopping. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 11: Darjeeling to NJP / IXB
Morning free for packing & transfer to NJP Station or Bagdogra airport for return journey back home.
