The trek starts from a base in Neral town and it takes about 3 hours to reach the fort. It is an easy trek, with the slightly difficult paths involving a small rock patch and a ladder. Make sure that you carry a water bottle, an extra pair of clothes, readymade food, energy drinks, and medicines for your well-being. Keeping in mind that it is a night trek, a torch with a spare set of batteries and full sleeves clothes are must-carry items. As you trek towards the fort, the path passes through water streams, rocks, grassy meadows, and lush green forests.

Itinerary:

Day 0: Mumbai – Neral
On this day, brace yourself for an exciting Vikatgad Peb Fort night trek from Mumbai. As it is a one-day trek, you are advised to buy Mumbai-Neral return ticket. Board the Karjat fast local train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) at 11:18 PM. You may board the same Karjat train from any other station, as per your convenience and reach the destination directly. You will arrive in Neral at about 12:53 AM in the morning.

Day 1: Neral – Mumbai
After arriving at Neral railway station, proceed to the base in the town. You can have your tea or coffee on the way. You will reach Neral town at about 2:00 AM. After a briefing about the trek to Vikatgad Peb Fort, start your journey. On reaching Vikatgad Peb Fort, witness the surreal moment where the sun slowly ascends while its rays spread all around. Explore the fort and then enjoy a hearty breakfast at about 7:30 AM. Later, descend towards Matheran by 9:00 AM and then head towards Dasturi Naka. Depart by local cab and head towards Neral Railway Station. Start your return journey by boarding the local train to Mumbai.
