The Andaman Islands are world-famous for their natural beauty, quiet surroundings and rich wildlife. For years, travellers from across the globe have been drawn towards them and the abundance of beach resorts has only added to it. Barefoot Resorts Andamans, located in Havelock Island, offers comfortable accommodation and arranges a range of exciting marine activities. There are 6 air-conditioned tented cottages, 8 air-conditioned Andaman Villas, 1 Fan Cooled Nicobari Villa, 9 air-conditioned Nicobari Cottages and 1 Fan Cooled Duplex Cottage for you to choose from at this resort. The air-conditioned Nicobari Cottages are built of natural and biodegradable material, such as palm leaves, wood and bamboo. They spread across 350 sq feet under their thatched roofs and their floors are also wooden. These units stand above the ground on high stilts and have foldable ladders to prevent reptiles from entering inside.

The timber for the floors of the air-conditioned Andaman Villas has been sourced from Indonesia. The attached bathrooms here feature walk-in showers, overlooking the island. There is also skylight in the bathrooms for ventilation purpose. These villas also have large open balconies for guests to sit back and look around this amazing Andaman beach resort. The Fan Cooled Duplex Cottage has two floors and queen-size beds to accommodate four people at once. Designed like the houses of local tribal dwellers, the Fan Cooled Nicobari Villa stands on stilts and has a thatched roof. Continuing the tribal theme, the roof consists of interwoven leaves, obtained from jungles. The villa has a large bed, sofa, writing tables, chairs, a low chest and lampshades, made of rusted plates of iron. Its bathroom has a circular shower cubical.

The air-conditioned Tented Cottages have spacious and quite luxurious interiors. They have three separate rooms: a sitting hall, bed room and a full-fledged wardrobe. The wardrobe is equipped with a rack for keeping clothes, a section for keeping luggage, dressing mirror and a safe. You will find a king-size bed, hot water kettle and sachets of tea, coffee and sugar in the cottage. Their spacious bathrooms have showers and western-style toilet. Additionally, each of these cottages and villas has open balconies, and all bathrooms are provided with towels and basic toiletries. If you are a large group, then you may ask the resort to arrange for a large bungalow, located close to it. This bungalow has three air-conditioned bedrooms with attached bathrooms; kitchen with cooking range, microwave and utensils; balcony and a large living room.

The property has been especially popular with those, who have come here to enjoy water sports at Andamans as it offers such facilities. Divers are in luck as the establishment runs a number of courses and organises excursions to nearby diving spots. Learn the art of diving from experienced trainers and a warm multi-lingual staff, and once you are through with the course, go for diving into the sea. For the ultimate thrill and excitement, take the underwater plunge with an elephant as this engagement has been highly sought-after at Barefoot Resorts Andamans by its guests. Snorkelling is another fun activity to enjoy here with the entire family. From the resort, you could take trips to nearby reefs and also to those further away. On a snorkelling trip from this Andaman beach resort, you will see colourful corals, stingrays and turtles.

The water around the island is rich in marine creatures, calling for a leisurely round of fishing. You can enjoy such water sports at Andamans from traditional boats, called dinghy or from customised motorboats. A fishing expert will accompany you and provide you with lines, rods, nets and bait. You could also take kayak rides and explore the lush mangrove forests around Havelock Island.

Duration:   1 Day

How to Reach:
There are two ways to come to Havelock Island, and both of them involve reaching the final destination on ferries. You may fly all the way to Port Blair from Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. Alternatively, there are ferry services from Vishakhapatnam, Chennai and Kolkata to Port Blair; tickets for them should be booked beforehand. From Port Blair, three ferries operate to Havelock Island every day, and these range from slower and cheaper government-run ones to faster and costly private marine vessels. These may be picked according to the budget and the time that you want to arrive at the island.

Season:
Most people come to the Andaman Isles between November and May, with the largest influx of tourists, coming between December and March. Much of the rain falls in June, July and August, and the weather often becomes pleasant after them. During June and July, the resort suspends operations; it reopens on August 1st. Due to the islands location in the Tropical Zone, nothing can be said about the rains, and it can rain even in November and December. If you are interested in water sports, then arrive between February and March as this period sees calm seas and good visibility.
