A hidden paradise for trekkers who want a peaceful time away from all the hustle bustle of the cities and want to spend some time with the nature. Winter Dodital Lake trek is an ideal trek for beginners in the Garhwal Himalayas. The emerald lake is surrounded by oak woods, pine, and rhododendron forests. The freshwater lake, situated at an altitude of 10847 feet, is formed by the natural springs coming down from the surrounding mountains. The lake is named after ‘dodi,’ which means trout in the local language and the lake is one of the few natural habitats of Himalayan Trouts. According to Hindu mythology, Dodital is the birthplace of Lord Ganesha. It is also known as Dhundhital, which means “Ganesha’s Lake”.
The easy walk along the trail to Dodital, through dense forest, grasslands on the mountain slope, by the river gorges and remote hamlets, will take you to the Darwa Top, from where you can admire a spectacular view of mighty Bandarpunch and other snow-capped peaks. In summer or fall, it provides an idyllic set up for rest and recreational activities like angling, boating and bird-watching. In winter, it becomes a fairyland, with snow covered conifer forests and snow-capped ridges in the horizon. Your trek will begin from Sangam Chatti through deep forest and beautiful scenery. You will get the true essence of a Himalayan trek with Winter Dodital lake trek. The narrow trails, the steep climbs, crossing streams and knee deep snow in winters will give you the ultimate adventure.
ITINERARY:
Day 1: Haridwar to Uttarkashi
Arrive in Haridwar on your own. You will be taken to Uttarkashi by car which is a 6 hours’ drive from Haridwar. Drive through the scenic views of Shivalik ranges. Reach Uttarkashi by evening and check in to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Uttarkashi -Sangam Chatti - Bhebra
After breakfast drive from Uttarkashi to Sangam Chatti to start your trek. The drive will take about 30 minutes. Start your Winter Dodital Lake trek from Sangam Chatti to Bhebra, which is around 8 kms. You will pass through villages and paddy fields. Meet the villagers on the way and know about their life in this beautiful place. After reaching Bhebra set out your camps and freshen up. Have dinner and stay overnight at the camps.
Day 3: Bhebra - Dodital via Manjhi
Next morning, have you breakfast and start your trek to Dodital. It’s an easy trek from Bhebra through verdant forests of Rhododendron, Pine and Oak trees. Stop at Manjhi to have your packed lunch. Continue your Trek from Manjhi to Dodital. You will reach the scenic Dodital lake in 2 hours. The beautiful lake is famous for its serene beauty and Himalayan Trouts. Dodital lake is considered as a sacred lake. Take a walk around the lake and admire its enchanting beauty.
Day 4: Dodital- Darwa Top- Dodital
After breakfast start your trek to Darwa Top. The uphill climb will take you into thick forests and then high meadows dusted with snow. A perfect setting for Himalayan wildflowers, Darwa top offers an amphi-theatre view of the Bandarpunch and Swargarohini ranges. Take in the beauty of the place. After admiring the place start walking downhill to reach the campsite. Spend the rest of the day exploring around Dodital. Enjoy the sunset sipping hot tea or go bird watching around the lake. Have dinner and stay overnight at the camps.
Day 5: Dodital- Agoda
Have your breakfast and start your downhill trek towards Agoda. Due to the downhill climb this day will be fairly easy. Reach your campsite and have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 6: Agoda - Sangam Chatti
After breakfast leave for Sangam Chatti which is the end point of your trek. Trek downhill and savour the charming walk through Agoda hamlet. Reach Sangam Chatti in 2 hours. Once you reach, board vehicle to drive down to Haridwar. Winter Dodital Lake trek ends here.

- Transportation from Haridwar to Uttarkashi and back
- The permit and the fee required for Angling in Dodital
- We assume that you will carry your personal Rucksack/Backpack with all your personal belongings. If you want to offload your Rucksack and carried by our Pack Animal/Porter then you need to pay additional Rs 1500 for the entire duration of the trek
- The Rucksack should not weigh more than 10 Kg
- Any tip/gratuity to the supports staffs. If you are happy with the service, please tip them generously
- Any kind of insurance during the trek or transit
- Any cost which is not mentioned in Inclusions or expenses personal in nature
