On the edge of the Banjaar River, peacefully overlooking Kanha National Park on the opposite bank, sits Banjaar Tola, a Taj Safari Lodge. By Plane: Kanha Park can also be reached through flights. Some of the nearby airports are:
- Nagpur (300kms/06:30hrs)
- Raipur(260kms/06:00hrs)
- Jabalpur (165kms/04:00hrs)
Travelling to Kanha by road :
Nearest cities from Kanha National Park are Jabalpur, Raipur, Nagpur. Jabalpur & Nagpur is on National Highway-7 which connects Varanasi from Kanyakumari. Anyone can reach Kanha from these cities by surface transfers. Among them Jabalpur is the closest to Kanha Tiger Reserve i.e, about 165kms. and road condition is also favourable. Routes are as follows:
» Jabalpur - Mandla - Kanha (Khatia gate)
» Raipur - Simga - Kawardha - Chilphi- Gadhi- Kanha (Mukki gate)
» Nagpur - Seoni - Balaghat - Baihar - Kanha (Mukki gate)
Season:
Every year Kanha National Park is open for visitors from the 15th of October to till 30th of June. As per the climate of Central part of India, the peak season for Kanha National Park is during winters, say October to March. Most of the tourists visit the park between November and March, mainly because the summer's heat is unbearable. The period between November and February is excellent for visiting Kanha national park as the rain fall during monsoon rejuvenated all the nature & vegetation. Particularly this period is best for bird watching. A lot of migratory birds visit the park during the winter months.
